Orientation!

So today I had my orientation for San Jose State students studying abroad next year. IT WAS SO EXCITING! There were about 50 people there, who were going to be studying in all parts of the world from China, Argentina, Costa Rica, Australia, France, Japan, Sweden, to Brazil. I was surprised to see my friend Domingo when I walked in the room, and turns out, he'll be studying in France next semester while I'm in Brussels, which I'm super excited about. I also made friends with a girl who will be going to school in Amsterdam, and another guy who will be going to the same school as Dom in France. ANYway, we first had a presentation on health & safety, which was all common sense stuff an applied more to developing and third world countries, sooo it was pretty boring. Then we moved onto the more academic stuff, dealing with paperwork, and how to get credit fr the classes we take abroad. This stressed me out because I have to get a pretty decent size list of classes approved for credit by department, BEFORE I leave, which is frustrating because I wont even know what classes I will be taking until I get to orientation at Vesalius. Then they talked to us a little about culture shock and how to deal with it, because it's inevitable. This was really reassuring, and I really am not as anxious about it as I was before. I was definitely getting more excited by the minute as I learned about what I'll get to experience, and all of the opportunities I will be presented with in my time abroad. At the end of the orientation, there was a student panel of 2 students who had studied abroad, and they shared their experiences (one studied in Brazil and London, the other in China and Japan). Once 2:30 rolled around, I was so overwhelmed and excited to be going abroad, I forgot about how annoyed I had been on my way to orientation at 8:30 in the morning on a Saturday. Oh the college life. I really wish that words could accurately describe my excitement and anxiety to get going on this once in a lifetime adventure I will be embarking on in a few short months!

So, I was getting frustrated with the other blog site I was using, so I decided to try a new one. Feel free to become a follower, and I'll re-post my posts from the previous blog.
